Presidential election in Russia takes place on March 17

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has not yet announced his candidacy for another term in office, but there is little doubt that he will run again in the election.

Putin took up his first term as president in 2000; in between, he served as prime minister for four years before being re-elected head of state in 2012 and 2018.
