Society - President of the state parliament wants more exchange with dissenters
Lower Saxony's state parliament president Hanna Naber has spoken out in favor of a more intensive exchange between people. "Everyone must engage more with those who have a different opinion," said the SPD politician in an interview with the political journal "Rundblick" (Tuesday). It is not true that certain topics can no longer be addressed openly. What is needed more, however, is "the ability to tolerate the ambiguity of the world and also the position of others, even if it seems inconclusive, unconvincing, too uncertain or not well thought out", said Naber.
The motto of the President of the State Parliament this year is "Dear democracy, are you there for everyone?". At the events, she noted that many people are impressed by the parliamentary system. However, the advantages of political decision-making processes are often not talked about enough, she said.
