3rd league - Premiere: Schmöller's difficult task with 1860 Munich
TSV 1860 Munich will be without goalkeeper Marco Hiller (26) for the delayed debut of interim coach Frank Schmöller on Sunday (4.30 pm) in the 3rd Football League at Arminia Bielefeld. The goalkeeper, who has been replaced as number one by the suspended Maurizio Jacobacci, is expecting his first child with his wife Cloé.
"I'm incredibly looking forward to this moment. That's why I'm very grateful to Frank Schmöller for allowing me to stay in Munich," said Hiller. David Richter (24) will be back in goal. Defender Fabian Greilinger (23) will also miss out due to an infection.
Schmöller should have made his debut for the 15th-placed team in the table a week ago in the home game against Rot-Weiss Essen. However, the game was postponed due to the winter weather. "I would have loved to start with a home game," admitted Schmöller on Friday, but the long preparation with the "Lions" was not bad. For the time being, the former U21 coach will only be in charge of the team against relegated second division side Bielefeld and against Waldhof Mannheim at the end of the season on Wednesday.
"It can be unpleasant on the Alm if you don't find the right attitude to the game, if you don't find the right means to play, if you don't find the right answers," warned Schmöller ahead of the away game on Sunday.
