Prediction: FPÖ Achieves Dominance in European Vote within Austria
During the recent European election in 2019, the FPO seems set to gain six seats in the new EU parliament, which is double the number they had previously. The OVP secured an impressive 34.5% of the vote and took the lead role, while the SPO trailed with close to 24%. FPO still struggled at third place with an 17% share.
This electoral success came despite the infamous Ibiza scandal that was in the news back then. A video surfaced on Ibiza, revealing how FPO's then Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache offered state contracts for election support to a presumed Russian oligarch's daughter. Subsequently, several politicians were investigated, and Sebastian Kurz's former government (OVP) dissolved.

The SPÖ, historically a significant political party in Vienna and Austria, experienced a decrease in voting support during the 2019 European elections, claiming a near 24% share. Despite the political turmoil following the Ibiza scandal, the FPÖ managed to secure three more seats in the EU Parliament, forecasted to hold six seats in total. The ÖVP, on the other hand, emerged victorious with a 34.5% share, trailed closely by the FPÖ. With this outcome, the European elections in Austria are predicted to result in a shift of power, with the FPÖ expected to have a dominant influence in the EU Parliament starting Sunday.
