Pre-Bundesliga Debut for Holstein Kiel: labeled as a "Unique Encounter"

- Pre-Bundesliga Debut for Holstein Kiel: labeled as a "Unique Encounter"

Holstein Kiel is thrilled for their Bundesliga debut this Saturday (15:30 CET, broadcasted on Sky) against TSG Hoffenheim. As stated by KSV coach Marcel Rapp at the press conference prior to the match, "We've been waiting for this day. It's a significant game, not just for our club but for the entire Schleswig-Holstein region as well." However, Rapp also acknowledged, "But we can't count on victory simply because we're excited."

Rapp will be missing two crucial players: Colin Kleine-Bekel, who's recovering from a cruciate ligament injury, and Steven Skrzybski, who's nursing a calf injury. The status of Carl Johansson, who's dealing with back problems, remains uncertain.

Rapp understands that, as Europa League participants, Hoffenheim is the favorite. But, being from Pforzheim himself, he's not one to adopt a passive attitude. "We aim to secure three points," he declared. Despite statistics showing their team's slim chances, based on budget or player market values, Holstein Kiel has proven they can compete in second division matches. "And that's exactly what we aim to continue in the Bundesliga," added Rapp.

The potential protests from Hoffenheim's ultra groups, in response to recent management changes, particularly directed against benefactor Dietmar Hopp, have not disrupted Holstein Kiel's preparations, as Rapp clarified. "Naturally, we talk about the possibility of interruptions during the game. But we've dealt with such situations in the past. Our players are capable," he said.

Despite their excitement for their Bundesliga debut against TSG Hoffenheim, Holstein Kiel's coach Marcel Rapp acknowledges the challenge ahead due to the Europa League participants' favoritism. Regardless, Rapp and his team, who have shown resilience in second division matches, aim to make their mark in the Bundesliga by securing a win in soccer.
