Praise for BVB's transfer campaign - Beier deal gives confidence

Full coffers, big ambitions. A squad rebuild is intended to give struggling champions league finalists Dortmund more strength in the Bundesliga. The latest transfer coup boosts confidence.

- Praise for BVB's transfer campaign - Beier deal gives confidence

Three German national players, a recently prolific striker, and a Brazilian winger: Borussia Dortmund goes on the offensive in the transfer market. Unlike at the start of last season, when the buying policy of the industry giant was viewed rather skeptically, experts are now full of praise. With the signing of Maximilian Beier announced on Monday, one of the last gaps in the squad is likely to be closed. "I find the transfer policy of BVB good. Overall, I'm less worried about Dortmund this transfer summer than in recent years," judged Sky expert Lothar Matthäus approvingly.

The pride in reaching the Champions League final did not prevent the club bosses from critically questioning the weak Bundesliga season, which ended in fifth place. A squad overhaul costing around 80 million euros is intended to enable the return of the football Bundesliga club to appropriate table regions.

Instead of half-hearted compromises, wish solutions were realized this time. "We have now been able to sign all five target players of this transfer period - including three professionals who are part of the German national team squad," commented the new sports director Lars Ricken.

Striker change without additional costs

Even with the transfers of Waldemar Anton, Serhou Guirassy (both VfB Stuttgart), Pascal Groß (Brighton & Hove Albion) and Yan Couto (Manchester City), the previously criticized sports director Sebastian Kehl sharpened his profile. However, he received particular praise for securing the current Hoffenheim all-rounder Beier.

In the shortest possible time, the 31-year-old Niclas Füllkrug, who surprisingly moved to West Ham United, was replaced by a ten years younger alternative without incurring significant additional costs. The approximately 30 million euros transfer fee for Füllkrug was reinvested directly. Ricken rated the Beier deal as a coup: "Several European top clubs fought for Maximilian."

The first statements of the new arrival were exactly to the taste of the fans. When asked what had attracted him to BVB, Beier answered combatively: "That we pursue the same goals. We want to play for titles in every season, win titles. That fits."

Moukoko and Brunner before club change

However, there is still a lot to do for the Ruhr club until the end of the transfer period on August 30 - now rather in the sale of professionals. With the Beier deal, the Borussia's oversupply in attack grows, making a departure of young star Youssoufa Moukoko more likely. His agent Patrick Williams had publicly complained about too little playing time for the 19-year-old a few days ago. Apparently, the French clubs OSC Lille and Olympique Marseille are interested. However, a first offer from Marseille did not meet the expectations of the Dortmund club.

In addition to Moukoko, BVB talent Paris Brunner is also thinking about a club change. The 18-year-old is courted by AS Monaco. The club from the principality wants to initially loan the U17 World Cup winner to Cercle Brugge, so that he can gain first experience in the senior area in Belgium. So far, Brunner has not reacted to the contract offer from Dortmund, which has been on the table for months.

Borussia Dortmund's aggressive transfer strategy continues, as they aim to address their remaining squad needs. With Maximilian Beier's arrival announced, experts believe that one of the team's last gaps has been filled.

Despite the departure of Niclas Füllkugu to West Ham United, Dortmund managed to find a younger replacement in Maximilian Beier without incurring significant additional costs.
