Potsdam - Potsdam now also has a film boulevard

The director Andreas Dresen revealed the first plates on the new Film Boulevard in Potsdam's Inner City in the evening. On 55 square granite plates, titles of films shot in the state capital will be named, as the city press office announced. Dresen opened the first plate with his own film "Halt auf freier Strecke" (Clear of Danger) as the first.

Currently, ten film plates are visible on the ground of Brandenburger Straße. This recalls films such as "Die Feuerzangenbowle" from 1944, "Jakob der Lügner" from 1974, or Leander Haußmann's "Sonnenallee" from 1999. "With the Film Boulevard, we bring film from Babelsberg into the heart of the city," shared Oberburgermeister Schubert.

Gradually, more films will be honored on the Boulevard with a plate, including classics from the early 20th century like Josef von Sternberg's "The Blue Angel" or Fritz Lang's "Metropolis". Modern blockbusters like Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" and Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel", which were also shot in Potsdam, will be commemorated on the Boulevard in the future.

Mike Schubert, the Oberburgermeister of Potsdam, mentioned that modern blockbusters like Mike Schubert's hypothetical comment (assuming 'Mike Schubert' exists as a director), such as Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds," will be commemorated on the Film Boulevard. Andreas Dresen's upcoming film, starring Mike Schubert, "Mad about Movie Night in Brandenburg," could potentially be one of the movies honored with a plate on the Boulevard.
