Current climatic conditions - Possible local flooding may occur in Hesse.
Authorities have warned that heavy rain expected in Hesse from Thursday onwards could cause local flooding due to the saturation of the soil from previous showers. The Hessian State Office for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology (HLNUG) in Wiesbaden has issued a warning about the potential for local floods starting on Thursday in response to the heavy rainfall. The office also warned that the sections of the Werra, Rhine, and Neckar rivers in Hesse may exceed warning levels over the weekend.
Residents are being asked to keep up to date with the weather alerts from the German Weather Service (DWD) as predictions for localized heavy rain cannot be made. According to the DWD, from Saturday night to Sunday night, some areas of Hesse could see up to 50mm of rain within 24-30 hours, with the possibility of over 50mm in the Rhön region.
