Positive interim results for new park toilets
The Senate Department for Transport and the Environment gives a positive interim assessment of the climate-friendly park toilets project. In April and May, two dozen so-called dry toilets were installed across all Berlin districts. They are intended to support the provision of public toilets in places where there are no connections to water and electricity lines, as the environmental administration announced on Friday. "Half of the test phase has now passed and the interim results are positive." The park toilets from the pilot project have been used more than 400,000 times.
As part of the project phase, users of the toilets can rate their cleanliness and facilities online. Around 2000 people have made use of this opportunity. There has been particularly positive feedback about the urinals, which can be used by both men and women, as the environmental administration announced ahead of World Toilet Day on Sunday.
Toilets are an important part of public services, said Senator for the Environment Manja Schreiner (CDU). She was therefore pleased to be able to show with the pilot project that it is also possible to equip places with toilets where conventional toilets are not available.
Use of the toilets is free of charge. According to the information provided, the aim of the project is to create an environmentally friendly and sustainable toilet infrastructure in public spaces. During the one-year test phase, users can evaluate the two different toilet models. The aim is to draw conclusions for future planning.
The Senate, specifically the Senate Department for Transport and the Environment, plays a role in assessing the climate-friendly park toilets project. The Senator for the Environment, Manja Schreiner, emphasizes the importance of public services like toilets, even in areas without conventional infrastructure.
