- Police: Visitors yell right-wing slogans at Wacken Festival
Two visitors had their Heavy Metal Festival in Wacken cut short following an apparent far-right incident. According to an eyewitness, the men shouted far-right slogans on Friday night, which the police confirmed. Officers located the men, and in agreement with the organizers, their wristbands were confiscated and they were banned from the event. Additionally, the police intend to initiate criminal proceedings against the two.
On Saturday morning, both men had to leave the grounds, a festival spokesperson told Deutsche Presse-Agentur. The festival does not tolerate such expressions. It stands for unity and does not condone discrimination.
Investigation Following Facebook Post
The police are also investigating a Facebook post by private users that reported a 54-year-old festival attendee missing since Wednesday. However, there was no missing person report filed, according to police. Working with the organizers, officers found that the man's wristband was used to pay for breakfast the following morning.
Therefore, the police assume that the search for the missing person is no longer necessary. They have asked the 54-year-old to contact the police camp again to confirm his whereabouts.
The Heavy Metal Festival ended in the early hours of Sunday.
The men, having their festival experience disrupted, were banned from the Heavy Metal Festival due to far-right slogans they shouted. The festival firmly stands against such expressions, championing unity and not condoning discrimination.
