- Police union: Climate activists ask for cash
For possible financial damages resulting from their actions at airports, climate activists should be made to pay, according to the Police Union. The DPolG considers the damage caused by flight cancellations and disruptions in airline operations to be the activists' responsibility. They should bear the cost, said the deputy federal and state chairman of the DPolG in Baden-Württemberg, Ralf Kusterer.
"Who deliberately brings infrastructure to a standstill by using their body as an insurmountable barrier and acts without regard for affected legal rights and interests, acts in a manner contrary to good morals." This immorality could be the basis for civil law claims. Regardless, the so-called climate glue activists should be prosecuted and charged with further costs for police deployment and the removal of disruptions.
The climate initiative had started protest actions at several German airports, also temporarily disrupting flight operations. According to the organization's statements, two activists in orange safety vests gained access to the airports Berlin-Brandenburg, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and Cologne-Bonn.
The climate initiative's actions at airports, which include disrupting flight operations, reflect a significant impact on the climate. The resulting costs for the removal of these disruptions and police deployment further highlight the financial responsibility associated with such actions.
