Crime - Police shoot man after attempted robbery

There was a fatal incident in Cologne on Thursday evening involving a gunman and a shot fired by police officers. Much remained unclear in the evening. According to initial police reports from the evening, a 28-year-old woman called the emergency services at around 7 p.m. to report an attempted robbery in Ehrenfeld. A man, whose identity was initially unknown, had tried to rob her while she was sitting in her car.

After the attempt failed, the woman pursued the perpetrator and informed the police of the man's location. When officers arrived, the man was probably standing by a cab with a knife. When he did not comply with the request to put everything down, a shot was fired. The man fell to the ground and injured himself, according to the police. He died in hospital.
