- Police School Chemnitz: Teacher suspected of racism
Disciplinary action has been initiated against a teacher at the Police Academy in Chemnitz due to suspected repeated racist remarks and sexist behavior. Several employees have reported such allegations, the Saxon Police Academy announced. The employee is currently no longer active as a teacher.
The incident has been handed over to the responsible police directorate. The results of further investigations are still pending. The academy is currently investigating whether there are any further suspicions against employees.
Notable police cadets
Following incidents at the Police Academy in Schneeberg, internal investigations were initiated at all Saxon police academies. Recently, a Saxon police cadet was reported for suspected incitement of the people. The trainee at the Police Academy in Schneeberg is said to have made anti-Semitic remarks after an excursion to a Jewish cemetery. The Saxon Police Academy has initiated criminal and disciplinary proceedings against the man.
This was not the only case: several trainees have been noted at the Police Academy. In December last year, a 22-year-old was suspended for allegedly racially insulting another police cadet. In October 2023, an 18-year-old was suspended shortly after the start of his training due to suspected right-wing extremism.
Rector: Misconduct will not be tolerated
Rector Dirk Benkendorff stated: "The Saxon Police Academy (FH) stands on a solid foundation of values, in which extremist and sexist remarks have no place. Such misconduct will not be tolerated and will be pursued consistently."
The Saxon Police Academy is also investigating if there are any similar suspicions against other teachers, aiming to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment for all students. It's important to note that misconduct, including racist and sexist behavior, is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with appropriately by the academy's administration.
