The police rescued four kidnapped kittens. Initial investigations suggest that a 20-year-old, acting on behalf of the cat owner, took the animals to a veterinarian, but then inexplicably returned only the mother and kept the kittens, the Darmstadt police reported.

Last week, police raided the man's home in Groß-Zimmern (Darmstadt-Dieburg district) and took the kittens away. The six-week-old animals had been separated from their mother for several days and were taken to an animal clinic due to their poor health. The 20-year-old is being investigated for suspected embezzlement and violation of animal protection laws.
