Shot during a chase - Police pursue stolen car - officer fires shot

The police in Leipzig engaged in a spectacular pursuit with a car thief, during which a shot from a police weapon fell. The driver of the stolen car had rammed several police vehicles in the chase, as the police reported. However, no one was injured by the shot fired by an officer.

Shortly thereafter, the getaway car was found in a side street. In it was a 37-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who had been injured in the previous accident. The driver managed to escape despite the use of a tracking dog and a helicopter.

An investigation is now being conducted against him for dangerous interference in road traffic. Two police officers were also slightly injured during the operation.

The car thief, fleeing from Leipzig's police, had used a Saxony-registered car as his service weapon against the pursuing forces. The chase resulted in chaotic traffic conditions in the city. Due to the women's injuries, the police shifted their focus to providing necessary medical assistance.
