Esslingen - Police officer hit by car during accident investigation
A driver hit a police officer while recording an accident on a country road near Neckartenzlingen ( Esslingen district). The police officer had to be taken to hospital as a result and was unable to continue his duties, a police spokesman said on Friday. The officer was slightly injured. He had been wearing a high-visibility vest when the accident was recorded.
The police officer had originally wanted to record an accident between a 25-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman. According to initial findings, the 79-year-old woman had wanted to turn onto a country road and had taken the right of way from the 25-year-old man, who was driving on the country road. This resulted in a collision. The man was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The senior citizen was uninjured in the accident on Thursday.
An estimated 30,000 euros worth of damage was caused. According to initial estimates, the accident with the police officer caused damage of 600 euros.
