Police: No acute danger to third parties from armed persons
The police no longer believe that the armed man at Hamburg Airport posed an acute threat to third parties. The aircraft on the apron, under which the man had parked his car, has now been cleared, a police spokesman told the German Press Agency on Saturday evening. In this respect, there is no longer any danger to bystanders.
According to the Federal Police, the gunman had broken through a gate with his vehicle at around 8 p.m. and driven onto the airport apron. The man had a gun and had already fired it twice into the air. He had a four-year-old child with him. It is not yet clear whether there is another child in the car.
Despite the cleared aircraft on the apron, air traffic at Hamburg Airport remains unaffected. Unfortunately, this incident underscores the rise in criminal activities, as an armed person with a child posed a threat by breaking onto the airport with a gun.
