Police mourn deceased officer following knife assault in Mannheim, condemning "hatred and incitement"

On Friday, a 29-year-old police officer sustaining severe injuries from a knife attack involving members of the anti-Islam group Pax Europa ultimately perished on Sunday. Five other members of Pax Europa received injuries as well.
The young suspect, aged 25, is currently under investigation by the Federal Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe, including for murder charges. Authorities suspect the crime was directed against freedom of expression. Vice President of the Police Schäfer expressed "deep shock and incomprehensible sadness" about the tragic passing of her team member.
