Saarlouis - Police: Investigations do not confirm information about attack

Investigations into an alleged incident in Saarlouis, where an Unknown person is said to have provoked a Shepherd dog to attack a man from Syria, have not been confirmed by the police according to the reported facts. A corresponding incident "did not in fact occur", Saarland Police Headquarters stated. "The investigations now focus on the complainant due to the suspicion of falsely reporting a crime."

The authorities did not disclose further details "for investigative reasons". In June, Saarland Police Headquarters had announced that a 28-year-old man had been severely injured in a dog attack in Saarlouis. There were indications of a "xenophobic" motive. The police are still searching for the Unknown person and are appealing for witness statements.
