Fires - Police investigate after roof truss fire in Mettmann district

Investigations are underway into the cause of a fire in the roof of an apartment building in the Mettmann district. As the police announced on Monday, investigators are checking witness statements according to which the fire broke out on the upper floor of the house in an unused sauna on Saturday evening. Despite extensive fire-fighting efforts, the second floor of the upper storey burned out completely, but no one was injured. The entire house is currently uninhabitable. According to initial assessments, the property damage was estimated at a six-figure sum.
