Police clear school in Solingen: No indication of danger
After a large-scale operation due to an allegedly armed person at a comprehensive school in Solingen, the police have given the all-clear. All pupils had left the building and all rooms had been searched. A police spokesman said on Friday that no danger had been identified.
All pupils were taken to a church meeting center nearby, the city said. From there, the older ones were able to go home themselves, while the younger ones were gradually picked up by their parents.
According to a witness, she had seen an armed person in the area of the school that morning. The police took the tip very seriously and searched the building with special forces.
Despite the reported emergence of an armed individual near the school, future emergency drills at local schools might need to be more rigorous to ensure student safety. In light of this incident, it would be beneficial for schools to review their emergency protocols and conduct regular emergency drills.
