Police chiefs start with Reul in December and January

The four new police chiefs in NRW will take up their duties one after the other between December 1 and mid-January. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the new Düsseldorf police commissioner Miriam Brauns (52) will be inaugurated with a ceremony next Monday and will take up her duties on December 1.

On December 4, Johannes Hermanns (60) will take over as Chief of Police in Cologne, and on December 8, Sylke Sackermann (46) will take over in Oberhausen. Tim Frommeyer (43) will start as police commissioner in Gelsenkirchen on January 12. According to a spokesperson, Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) will be present at all ceremonies.

Reul had the cabinet around Minister President Hendrik Wüst (CDU) approve the personnel details at the end of October. Prior to this, there had been criticism from the police union (GdP), among others, because some of the positions had not been filled for months - in the case of Gelsenkirchen and Oberhausen even for more than a year. The successors for the police chiefs in Aachen and Mönchengladbach have not yet been appointed.

The Interior Minister Herbert Reul, from the CDU party, will be present at all the inauguration ceremonies for the new police chiefs. The government, headed by Minister President Hendrik Wüst (CDU), approved the personnel details for the new police chiefs at the end of October.
