- Police cars and helicopters in pursuit - perpetrators caught
Following an attempted break-in at a gas station in Delmenhorst, the police arrested the two suspected perpetrators. In the search for the two men, several police cars and a helicopter were deployed overnight into Wednesday, as a police spokeswoman reported.
The 41-year-old and the 45-year-old attempted to enter the gas station and damaged the main entrance door in the process. When an alarm went off, the men fled in a car via a federal highway towards Bremen. The crew of a nearby patrol car took up the chase and alerted additional colleagues.
After an accident with the car, one of the men initially fled on foot. After the preliminary arrest in the Bremen city area, the deployed forces found that the 41-year-old driver was under the influence of intoxicating substances, did not have a driver's license, and was driving a stolen car. The police are now investigating the men, among other things, for attempted burglary and theft, as well as for a dangerous interference in road traffic. The extent of the damage was initially unclear.
The suspects attempted to carry out their criminal activities at a nearby gas station. After their arrest, the confiscated vehicle was discovered to have been stolen from a gas station.
