Reducing criminal activity - Police Bathing Facility Unveiled by Minister Pegel in Ueckermünde
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's Interior Minister Christian Pegel (SPD) hit the beaches this Thursday to patrol alongside lifeguards at Ueckermünde (Vorpommern-Greifswald district). The main purpose of these patrols was to maintain a visible police presence at camping sites, promenades, and beaches throughout the state during the summer months. According to Pegel, "Our increased presence in beach resorts and popular tourist spots is crucial to prevent crimes and act swiftly when needed."
Beginning in July and lasting through August, police officers have been deployed to patrol various beach locations, promenades, camping sites, and events all over the region. Sixty members of the rapid response unit have also been assigned to assist police stations in Neubrandenburg and Rostock, specifically in the popular hotspots of Boltenhagen/Poel, Usedom, and the Müritz area.
