Shots fired from a starter pistol** led to a large police response in Göttingen. According to a police spokeswoman, the shots were fired in the afternoon during an altercation between two men in the city center.
The suspected perpetrator fled to a nearby restaurant at the market. There, he was apprehended and taken to the ground by the police. The suspected weapon, a starter pistol, was recovered.
The background of the altercation was initially unknown. The police initiated an investigation, among other things, for dangerous bodily harm and violation of the weapons law. The suspect has since been released.
