Stephan Weil, the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, concludes his trip to China positively. According to his statement from the state chancellery, even when the relationship between two countries is complex, challenging geopolitical situations, and varying interests and perspectives in many areas, it is beneficial to communicate with each other. Weil led a delegation of about 60 individuals, including entrepreneurs and state parliamentarians.

The primary focus of the almost week-long trip, which concluded on Saturday, was the partnership between Lower Saxony and the region of Anhui, which commemorated its 40th anniversary in 2021. Anhui is located in eastern China, approximately 500 kilometers from Shanghai. It is home to over 60 million people.

"Having spent two days in Shanghai and three days in Anhui, I'm extremely optimistic," said the Prime Minister. The delegation acquired a comprehensive understanding of the country's economic and social landscape during the journey. "The primary aim of the trip—to profoundly strengthen and further develop the collaboration between Lower Saxony and Anhui—certainly evolved," remarked Weil.

Among the activities scheduled for the visit were an economic conference, discussions at Cosco Shipping's head office—one of the largest shipping companies in the world—and a tour of the VW plant in Hefei, the capital of Anhui province.
