Please "don't take offense": Tuchel does not swap

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has asked his substitutes to forgive him for not making any substitutions at all during the Bundesliga win in Cologne. "I've just told the lads: normally that doesn't happen. They should keep up the spirit they showed today and not hold it against me," said the Munich head coach on DAZN after the 1-0 win on Friday evening.

For the first time since December 2010, when Munich won 3-0 at FC St. Pauli under Louis van Gaal, the German soccer record champions played with their starting eleven again in the Bundesliga, according to data provider Opta. "I didn't feel it today. We were so good in the game, completely controlled it. I didn't want to interrupt our dominance," said Tuchel, explaining his unusual move.

The coach had previously spoken mockingly of a "glorious fixture list" and a "sensational line-up" in view of the international trips from which some Bayern players had only returned on Thursday. In the end, however, he left all the reserves, including Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel, on the bench.
