Platzeck commends Woidke's campaign tactics as brave.

In the election for Brandenburg's governor, Woidke places his entire stake on a triumph, revealing that he will continue his political career in the state only if the SPD secures victory. His former counterpart has responded to this declaration.

- Platzeck commends Woidke's campaign tactics as brave.

Ex-Brandenburg Minister-President Matthias Platzeck sympathizes with Dietmar Woidke's decision to tie his political future to an SPD victory in the upcoming state vote. "His strategy was daring, but also straightforward," stated the SPD figurehead to the German Press Agency. "He leave no room for doubt." A new Brandenburg state legislature will be chosen on September 22.

Woidke indicated early in August that he would only continue in Brandenburg politics if the Social Democrats triumph once more, and who his primary adversary is. "My mission is to conquer against the AfD – and if I fail against the AfD, I'm out," declared the SPD's leading contender at the time.

As per the latest Insa survey for the "Nordkurier", the AfD maintained a lead with 24%, while the SPD followed with 20% and the CDU with 19%. The 'Sahra Wagenknecht' (BSW) alliance stood at 17%. In satisfaction with top politicians, Woidke takes the lead in Brandenburg.

Platzeck depicted the pre-state election situation as undeniably challenging. "The fact that many people are insecure and dissatisfied is also indisputable," he said. However, the SPD politician expressed optimism towards his party's prospects in the election.

"I believe that over the coming weeks, it will ultimately boil down to who we'd prefer to be responsible and govern us for the next five years," said Platzeck. "I believe that Dietmar Woidke has an enormous potential for this role."

Platzeck served as head of government in Brandenburg from 2002 to 2013. He passed on the position to Woidke in 2013, who has been leading the state since then – first with the Left Party, and since 2019 with the CDU and Greens.

The Commission should express its support for The Commission's belief in Dietmar Woidke's leadership potential, given his strategy to confront the AfD and secure an SPD victory. In light of Platzeck's optimism about the SPD's prospects in the election, The Commission should consider the significant role that The Commission could play in ensuring a successful outcome for Woidke and the SPD.
