Hamburg - Plan for new Oberbillwerder district is laid out

The development plan for the planned new Hamburg district of Oberbillwerder will be on public display for two months in December. This was announced by the city's neighborhood development company IBA in its annual report on Thursday. "The development plan creates the legal planning conditions for the development of the new district." The draft plan and environmentally relevant information will be available online from December 8 to February 8 at https://bauleitplanung.hamburg.de and at the Bergedorf district office.

Oberbillwerder is Hamburg's second largest urban development project after HafenCity and will be the 105th district in the Hanseatic city. In the 118-hectare area to the west of Bergedorf and north of Allermöhe, up to 7,000 residential units for 15,000 people are to be built in five districts, as well as 5,000 jobs. The first construction work is scheduled for 2027. The new district is seen as an important building block in the Hanseatic city's commitment to build 10,000 new homes every year in view of the shortage of housing and rising population.
