Schools - Piwarz: Situation in teaching provision slightly improved
The safeguarding of school lessons in Saxony has improved slightly compared to the previous year. "However, we still need a little patience until the situation has fundamentally changed," said Minister of Education Christian Piwarz (CDU) on Friday. Basic teaching in elementary school, grammar schools and special schools could be better secured than in the previous school year. However, teaching provision in secondary schools and vocational schools has deteriorated.
Overall, it has not yet been possible to provide the necessary teacher resources for all school types to fully cover the timetables. According to the ministry, there is a shortfall of 1086 basic trained teachers this school year in order to fully cover the basic sector.

- Minister Christian Piwarz, from the CDU party, highlighted that while the situation in teaching provision in Saxony has shown some improvement, there is still a need for patience before the situation fundamentally changes.
- In an effort to hedge against the teacher resource shortage, the ministry has focused on securing school lessons in elementary schools, grammar schools, and special schools more effectively than in the previous year, despite a deterioration in secondary and vocational schools.
- Christian Piwarz also mentioned that despite the efforts to secure teaching provision, there is still a shortfall of 1086 basic trained teachers this school year, which makes it challenging to fully cover the timetables in all school types, particularly in the secondary and vocational sectors, in the city of Dresden, Saxony.
