Piwarz: Situation in teaching provision slightly improved
The safeguarding of school lessons in Saxony has improved slightly compared to the previous year. "However, we still need a little patience until the situation has fundamentally changed," said Minister of Education Christian Piwarz (CDU) on Friday. Basic teaching in elementary school, grammar schools and special schools could be better secured than in the previous school year. However, teaching provision in secondary schools and vocational schools has deteriorated.
Overall, it has not yet been possible to provide the necessary teacher resources for all school types to fully cover the timetables. According to the ministry, there is a shortfall of 1086 fully qualified teachers this school year in order to fully cover the basic sector.
Despite the slight improvement in school lesson safeguarding, there's a need for continued patience to significantly alter the situation in schools across Saxony, as mentioned by Minister Piwarz. The basic teaching in primary, grammar, and special schools has improved, but secondary and vocational schools are experiencing a decline in teaching provision.
