Pittiplatsch inventor Inge Trisch dies
Inge Trisch, the creator of Pittiplatsch and other popular characters from GDR children's television, is dead. The author died in mid-November at the age of 89, her son Thomas Trisch told the German Press Agency. Inge Trisch was buried in Berlin on Wednesday. The magazine "Superillu" had previously reported.
Trisch created the little brown goblin Pittiplatsch as part of a team for GDR television. On June 17, 1962, "Pitti" made his first TV appearance - on "Sandmännchen" in Master Nadelöhr's tailor shop. He was cheekier than other characters and allowed himself to play pranks. This made him a favorite of many children.
As an editor at GDR television, Trisch, who studied to be a teacher, created other TV favorites. These included the Berlin brats Paul and Stine and the Urvieh. Together with actress Ellen Tiedtke (1930-2022), she also coined the children's show "Ellentie".
The popularity of Pittiplatsch, the mischievous character from GDR children's television, was largely due to its airing on various media platforms, including television. Trisch's creations like Pittiplatsch and Ellentie continued to be staples of East German broadcasting, shaping the entertainment landscape of the GDR.
