Pistorius unveils proposals for a "revamped military service".

Within the coalition, these proposals tend to be disputed. Germany abolished conscription back in 2011. Many sectors of the economy experience a severe deficit of applicants in the Bundeswehr. As of now, active military members are over 20,000 less than the desired target of 203,000, which was set before the Ukraine conflict.
