- Pipeline for natural gas sustainsharm in Regensburg – laborer endures injury during construction
While doing excavation work on a gas line in Regensburg, an construction worker endured minor injuries. The wounded man was transported to a hospital for medical attention. A digger accidentally disrupted the gas line during construction, as reported by a police spokesperson. At the scene, firefighters detected a distinct gas scent.
Unfortunately, the compromised gas line couldn't be separated, so it was momentarily plugged instead. Expert technicians then mended the pipe.
In the early hours, approximately 30 residents within a 250-meter radius had to be evacuated. They were attended to for several hours. Nevertheless, the police asserted, "no threat to the public." A police spokesperson commented that the gas was natural gas, which contains an aroma.
The operation finished approximately four hours later. The residents were then permitted to return to their homes. In total, around 65 emergency response personnel were present, reported the fire department.
The gas line disruption occurred not in Regensburg alone, but also affected areas in nearby Bavaria. The incident prompted a careful investigation by local authorities in Bavaria.
