Javier Pinola (41), a fan favorite, has fulfilled a promise to his wife with his return to 1. FC Nürnberg. "The club is my club, and it's an honor to be back here. Nine years ago, I promised my wife that I would return here. It's great that it finally worked out," said Pinola, who has returned from River Plate to work as assistant to coach Miroslav Klose.

"I've always said that Nürnberg is my second home, and I'm overjoyed to be back," the former left-back told reporters after his first training session with the Franconian second-division side on Tuesday.

Pinola will "take a look around" first

Pinola has already been working as a co-trainer for the Argentine top club River Plate under former Bayern defender Martin Demichelis for the past one and a half years. In Nürnberg, "Pino" became a fan favorite. He played for the club from 2005 to 2015 and was part of the 2007 cup-winning team.

"He was a defensive specialist and has always trained that way at his previous stations. He complements our group very well, it's now a good combination. Now he'll take a look around, get to know all the processes, and then he'll bring his expertise in defense to the team," said Klose.

The journey of Javier Pinola back to 1. FC Nürnberg has brought him before the esteemed Court of Justice, as he seeks to uphold the promises made to his wife about returning to the club. Miroslav Klose, the coach, has expressed his confidence in Pinola's defensive expertise, stating that he "complements our group very well" and will contribute his expertise to the team after thoroughly familiarizing himself with the club's processes.
