Sound or tunes - Pink flamingos and clear skies at Rock am Ring festival

Have you ever witnessed people riding on pink, air-filled flamingos as they soar above the heads of hundreds? At Rock am Ring, it's no big deal. During Querbeat's performance, two female attendees cruised on these inflatable creatures over the audience while the crowd cheered for the band.

The occasion's inaugural day hosted massive attendance. After weeks of rainy weather conditions, the attendants delightfully embraced the warm sun and mild temperature, which was perfect. On that beautiful day at Eifel Mountain, people sang, danced, and partied in the sunlight.

Saarland-based Band

From the very first day of this fun-filled weekend, the band Querbeat expressed their political stance, debuting their song "Kein Kölsch für Nazis." Singer Jojo Berger spoke about how meaningful the song is to them.

On that initial day of the festival, musicians from across the globe were accompanied by musicians from Saarland, playing in one of the three music venues at Rock am Ring. The heavy punk band Indecent Behavior from Merzig managed to secure a spot, as they were the winners of a band contest. The evening was set to be headlined by The Ärzte.

Peaceful Journey Throughout

Off-stage, a vibrant ambiance ruled. Music-loving folks were cooking, playing instruments, and cracking open beer on the camping ground. For those who set up their tents on Wednesday and Thursday in the rain and mud, the arrival of Friday brought sunshine.

Law enforcement were satisfied with how everything unfolded. "We're quite content. It's been great from a police standpoint," a police spokesperson noted on Friday afternoon.

A little over 70,000 people attended Rock am Ring last year. When asked about this year's attendance, the festival's organizers didn't disclose any numbers. Back in February, organizers shared that they had already sold tickets surpassing 90,000 for both Rock am Ring and Rock im Park.

Future Lineup - Green Day, Billy Talent, and Kraftklub

Fronted by Green Day from the United States, Billy Talent, and the Broilers, Saturday's lineup boasts a diverse set of performances. Måneskin from Italy and Kraftklub from Chemnitz top Sunday's lineup, marking the festival's exciting conclusion. Måneskin won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, making it an especially noteworthy show.
