- Pilot seriously injured after light aircraft crash

Two days after a light aircraft crash near Ganderkesee airport (Oldenburg district), the pilot left the hospital. The 65-year-old sustained severe injuries in the accident, as reported by police. Initially, emergency services believed the injuries to be minor.

According to police, the pilot took off alone from Ganderkesee airport on Monday afternoon. At an altitude of approximately 100 meters, the aircraft's engine failed, causing it to crash. After a hard landing, the pilot came to a stop on a nearby field. He was conscious and managed to make an emergency call himself.

A helicopter crew located the injured man, and around 40 emergency services personnel were deployed. The man was airlifted to hospital. Experts disarmed the aircraft's rescue system, which had not activated during the crash. The aircraft was later recovered. Investigators suspect a technical malfunction was the cause of the accident and estimate the damage to be around 40,000 euros.

Following the accident, the pilot underwent extensive treatments in the hospital due to the severe injuries he sustained. Despite initial misconceptions, it was clear that the accident had a significant impact on the aircraft and its components.
