Exhibition - Photographs by Stephanie Kiwitt on display in Köthen
Photographs by award-winning photographer Stephanie Kiwitt are being presented in an exhibition at Köthen Castle. Following the vernissage of "Flächenland, Fortlaufend" on Thursday, the 51-year-old's works will be on display until April 14, 2024. The exhibition brings together her different photo series "Flächenland" and "Fortlaufend".
On the one hand, color photos show habitats and home - Kiwitt documents both the cultivation and urban sprawl of a region, according to Köthen Kultur und Marketing GmbH. The second part of the exhibition presents black and white photographs showing changes in detail, such as brickwork or window recesses, according to the statement. The show will be accompanied by a supporting program, including a reading and a photography workshop.
Kiwitt was born in Bonn and now lives in Halle, where she reportedly teaches as a professor of communication design and photography at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle. She received the Bonn Art Prize in 2002 and the Ellen Auerbach Scholarship from the Berlin Academy of Arts in 2016. The artist is a "keen yet subtle observer of the urban world", according to the Academy's citation at the time.
