Awards - Philippi honors three winners with health award
A project for the reintegration of unemployed people with mental illness, a life support service for people with mental disabilities and a cooperation network for local patient care are the winners of the Lower Saxony Health Prize. The awards in three categories, each worth 5,000 euros, were presented in Hanover on Monday for the 13th time in recognition of lighthouse projects.
"In view of the many challenges in the healthcare sector, we need to break new ground with creativity and courage. The award winners show what this can look like in practice," said Health Minister Andreas Philippi (SPD) according to the press release.
In the category "Chronically ill and well cared for", the project "ReHaTOP" - Hannover Region, Participation, Orientation and Prevention came out on top. It is aimed at unemployed people with mental illnesses and supports them in reintegrating into work and society. The cooperation between the Jobcenter Region Hannover, Hannover Medical School and the Bildungswerk der Niedersächsischen Wirtschaft was particularly impressive.
People with disabilities are rarely heard when decisions are made about their health. The "Strong for me" project by Lebenshilfe for people with intellectual disabilities addresses this issue by encouraging those affected to talk about their health and feelings. Self-designed, easy-to-understand working materials help.
The "Onkorisknet" project won as a network for the care of patients and families with a genetic tumor risk syndrome. The specialists use telemedicine to provide access to genetic diagnostics and advice close to home. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, digital solutions in the healthcare sector are essential for good care in the area. The example shows in an exemplary way how care can be improved in rural areas.
