Highway suspension bridge - Petrol-carrying tanker truck ablaze on A17 holds 36,000 liters.
A tanker truck went up in flames near the intersection of Dresden-West autobahn, halting under a bridge. The blaze soon engulfed the bridge, incurring significant damage. The autobahn was temporarily shut in both directions, allowing only Dresden-bound traffic to proceed at a later time while Prague-bound traffic still had to navigate through a single lane. At first, the road above the bridge was off-limits completely.
The wrecked truck and trailer will be retrieved by a recovery team. A structural engineer was also dispatched to evaluate the extent of the bridge's harm.
