Bundesliga - Peter Niemeyer raves about Werder Bremen's charisma

Peter Niemeyer focuses on stability, determination, and team spirit in his new role as Leader of Professional Football at Bundesliga team Werder Bremen. Niemeyer emphasized this during his official presentation on Wednesday. "The club has an incredible charisma and values that align with mine," Niemeyer stated. The former professional had previously led Traditionsclub Preußen Münster back to the 2. Bundesliga as Sporting Director.

Niemeyer played a total of 55 mandatory games for Werder between 2007 and 2010. "As a player, you always want the maximum, so Werder was the logical next step for me," said the former midfielder. At the Weser, he intends to create structures "to achieve sporting success." The ninth-placed team of the previous season has "embarked on a path that needs to be continued."

Niemeyer has had no contact with the team yet but has already exchanged ideas with Werder coach Ole Werner. "The first days have been very intense but calm. If the team were already there, it would be hectic," said the new Leader of Professional Football. The official training start in Bremen is on July 8.

Currently, Niemeyer and Fritz are focusing their attention on the European Championship. The tournament offers a good opportunity, "to observe players at home," Niemeyer said. Clemens Fritz added, "We use the EM very actively with our scouts. However, it's also clear that for us, countries are more relevant that we don't see often and that fit our budget."
