Peter Maffay receives "Bambi" as a "Legend"
The 74-year-old Peter Maffay will be honored for his life's work at this year's "Bambi" awards. The musician will receive the award in the "Legend" category, as the media group Hubert Burda Media announced in Munich on Tuesday.

According to Hubert Burda Media, Maffay has sold 50 million records in his decades-long career. With the help of his Tabaluga Foundation, he is also committed to the interests of children and young people.
Maffay amazed - and delighted
In an interview with "bunte.de", the 74-year-old expressed his surprise at the award: "This award surprises me as much as it delights me. If the work we do together has led to the decision to honor us in this way, I thank you for it. It goes to everyone who has been part of my team for five decades."
The "Bambi" is returning after a break of several years and will be awarded on November 16 in Munich. There was no award ceremony in 2020, 2021 and 2022, but the media group Hubert Burda Media has decided to present the award again to mark the 75th anniversary of the media prize.
This year, the "Bambi" is expected to be awarded in twelve categories. Around 800 invited guests from many areas of society are expected to attend the gala at the Bavaria Film Studios. Sat.1 will broadcast the event live on November 16 from 8.15 pm.
The "Bambi" is one of the most important media and television awards in Germany. The award has existed since 1948.
