- Peter Fox performs in the restroom of Columbia, sparking dancing enthusiasts in the swimming pool
The musical artist Peter Fox, known for his song "Haus am See," along with other musicians from Neukölln, turned the Columbiabad into a concert venue. The "Pool Party" was unexpectedly announced in the morning, and fans were welcomed if they had a legitimate summer swim pass and valid ID for entry, a standard requirement for individuals aged 14 and above at Berlin swimming pools. Swarming with crowds, predominantly youth, festivities and dancing continued both on the grassy areas and in the water. Approximately 3,000 fans were granted access for the event.
As quoted on Columbiabad's Instagram, Peter Fox expressed, "Let's have some fun at a place that's been getting a lot of negative press lately!" The Columbiabad swimming pool in Neukölln had faced evacuations multiple times the previous summer due to youth-related violence. For instance, two men attacked and brutally assaulted a security guard. Following the incident, there were heightened security measures in place.
Rap artists Juju and Gringo were among those invited to the "Pool Party." The concert was part of the free Kiez concerts.
Most summer pools will be closing by mid-September. Some, like the outdoor pools, will stay open until the 8th or 15th of September. The Wannsee beach swimming season also wraps up on the 15th of September. However, unexpected changes might arise, depending on the weather conditions.
Nonetheless, the swimming pool at the Olympic Stadium stays open until the end of September, and the pool in Kreuzberg remains operational until the end of October.
The following Instagram post from Peter Fox mentioned the Columbiabad as a venue for some fun amidst its recent negative press. Due to past incidents of youth-related violence, there had been increased security measures at the pool.
