Person under detention following stabbing incident in Siegen

The bus was traveling to a city celebration in Siegen on a Friday night when the woman initiated assaults on several individuals. Besides the harmed, there were close to 30 other people on the vehicle as per reports. As stated by both the authorities and the public prosecutor's office, there was no hint of a political or religious reason behind this act. However, there were signs of prior psychological aberrations in the woman's background, based on AFP sources.

The authorities urged caution due to false claims circulating on the web. "We'd like to emphasize here: The 32-year-old suspect is a German woman with no migration history," the North Rhine-Westphalian police posted on Saturday via the X internet service. "Please avoid speculations and hostile remarks in any direction!"

The injured are believed to be within the age range of 16 to 30 and are natives of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district. Three of them were discharged from the hospital shortly, while the remaining three were still in the hospital on Saturday night. One of them, a 23-year-old, had moved past the danger of death, but the two other men, aged 19 and 21, were still in a "critical" condition on Saturday night.

North Rhine-Westphalia's Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) urged unity after the incident. He told WDR that it's vital for coexistence "that we don't let fear and blame prevail, but that we simply remain strong and support each other". He had a scheduled visit to the site for the city festival.

A week prior, three individuals were killed and eight others were injured, some seriously, during a knife attack at a city festival in Solingen. The alleged perpetrator, a 26-year-old Syrian, was apprehended. The Federal Prosecutor's Office assumes an Islamic background. This incident ignited a discussion on deportations and knife bans.

Following the incident, the woman could potentially face charges leading to imprisonment due to her actions on the bus. Despite the seriousness of the situation, it's important to avoid spreading unverified information or making hostile remarks to avoid escalating tensions.
