- Perilous motorway journeys in the presence of a minor passenger
A tipsy driver, accompanied by a young child, posed a danger to traffic on the A5 close to Bad Krozingen (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). According to authorities, the 40-year-old individual apparently parked on the emergency lane and almost hit a truck as he accelerated and switched lanes towards the right. Moreover, he allegedly brought traffic to a halt at the Freiburg-South exit, resulting in other motorists abruptly braking.
Authorities were able to apprehend and examine the vehicle. A preliminary breathalyzer test revealed a reading above three times the legal limit. A preliminary drug test also showed positive results. On Tuesday, he had to head to the station for a blood sample. His driving permit was seized. It was established that his license had been previously suspended. Both the child and the man were picked up by their relatives at the station.
The dangerous incident on the A5 led to severe traffic disruptions, with the driver accused of almost hitting a truck due to his intoxicated state and reckless driving, resulting in crime-related charges. After the incident, authorities discovered that his driving permit had been previously suspended due to past misconduct.
