Frankfurt Regional Court - Pensioner assaulted twice in a row: Six years in prison
A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison by the Frankfurt Regional Court for two robberies of an 84-year-old man in quick succession. The criminal court found him guilty of two counts of robbery and computer fraud. The accused had used a bank card stolen from the pensioner on 14 occasions to make purchases and withdrawals, reportedly causing a loss of around 2,400 euros. Friday's verdict is not yet final. AZ 3260 Js 236604/22
In court, the defendant admitted to misusing the bank card - he did not provide any details about the robberies. However, the judges considered him to have been convicted on the basis of consistent witness statements.
The crimes took place in July last year in a retirement home in Frankfurt. According to the court, the pensioner was attacked twice within two days by the accused, who twisted his arm and pushed him to the ground. According to the information provided, the previous convictions were considered to be aggravating. As was revealed in court, another criminal case is pending against the man for similar incidents.

The criminal charges against the accused were heard in the specialized Criminal Chamber of the Frankfurt Regional Court, which is located in the German state of Hesse. The court is known for handling serious cases of criminality.
Despite confessing to misusing the stolen bank card, the defendant did not provide any details about the actual robberies, leaving crucial parts of the case reliant on witness testimonies.
The Frankfurt Regional Court's judgment included penalties not only for the robberies but also for related computer fraud, given the repeated use of the stolen bank card in Frankfurt on the Main.
Given his prior convictions and the ongoing criminal proceedings against him for similar incidents, the court considered the accused as a recurrent offender in the context of the sentencing for these robberies.
