A 39-year-old pedestrian has been hit by a car in Hamburg and critically injured. According to initial findings, the woman crossed an intersection in the Eimsbüttel district on Thursday evening despite a red light and was hit by the car, police said on Friday night. The driver initially fled on foot but was persuaded by passengers in the car to return to the scene of the accident by telephone. The police spokesman said that the reason for the escape was possibly shock. The pedestrian was taken to hospital.
