Flood - Peak of the Rhine floods probably reached at the weekend

According to forecasts, the winter floods reached their peak at the weekend. According to the forecasts, the water levels in North Rhine-Westphalia are set to fall from Sunday. In Cologne, the water level was still 7.37 meters above flood level I of 6.20 meters on Saturday afternoon. At flood level I, restrictions apply to shipping, such as a maximum speed of 20 kilometers per hour. The first high water mark for shipping of 6.20 meters was reached in Cologne on Tuesday morning.

However, the water levels throughout the country were and still are a long way from a ban on navigation on the Rhine at high water mark II. In the NRW state capital of Düsseldorf, high water mark I of 7.10 meters could be reached on Sunday, but then a falling water level is also expected there. At midday on Saturday, the water level in Düsseldorf was 6.93 meters.
