Hildesheim - Path named after pop singer Bernd Clüver
A path in Hildesheim will be named after pop singer Bernd Clüver, who died in 2011, next spring. The Nordstadt local council decided on Thursday evening that the connection between two streets should be called Bernd-Clüver-Stieg, a city spokesperson said on Friday. The cul-de-sac was previously unnamed. The city council was therefore asked to put up nameplates with the addition "Schlager singer, 1948-2011".
Clüver ("The Boy with the Harmonica") was born in Hildesheim and lived there until 1955. He had his biggest hits in the 70s. He died on Mallorca as a result of injuries sustained when he fell down the stairs.
A memorial plaque was unveiled at the former home of the Clüver family in Hildesheim in August 2023. In addition to the inscription, the plaque features a photo of the smiling musician in his younger years with a blow-dried hairstyle. Mirco Weiß, former CDU councillor in Hildesheim, is the initiator of the Clüver memorial. The inauguration of the street will once again be celebrated with celebrities from show business, said Weiß.
