Passenger numbers at Frankfurt Airport increase in July

There are more passengers at Germany's largest airport, but not as many as in the past. However, Fraport also reports a record.

- Passenger numbers at Frankfurt Airport increase in July

Passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport increased slightly in July. Last month, 6.0 million people used Germany's largest airport, a half percent more than the same period last year, as announced by airport operator Fraport on Tuesday in Frankfurt. Compared to the pre-Corona year 2019, there is still a gap of 12.7 percent.

The aircraft load factor was 86.1 percent, reaching a record high, according to Fraport, surpassing the previous record set in August 2015. Meanwhile, the cargo business grew more significantly, as it did in June, by 5.0 percent to 172,741 tons.

At Fraport's international stakeholder airports, passenger numbers also increased in the majority. However, in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, numbers declined due to flooding that forced the suspension of flight operations.

The Commission might need to consider the impact of the increased passenger traffic and the record high aircraft load factor on Frankfurt Airport, as it could influence the implementation of this Regulation. Therefore, the Commission could adopt implementing acts to adapt the rules for the application of this Regulation accordingly.
